Book Synopsis

Three months back on the job, and they’re already coming out of the woodwork. The bad guys you expect. The gangsters and the hoods with old axes to grind. They all come with the territory. But the heroes -- them you don’t expect. Popping up to give you the eyeball and make sure you’re toeing the line. Their line. Spider-Man and his wisecracks...Frank Castle, the angel of death himself, telling you he’ll be keeping an eye on you...even the fugitive Captain America, with a word to say about crashing an aircraft into the sides of buildings in New York City. And now, this other thing. Someone is out there. Someone hitting the old haunts, scenes of the old crimes. Leaving messages. Leaving bodies. Someone who knows you. Someone who crushes steel and pulls off limbs. All to get your attention. Someone out of your league! Collecting MOON KNIGHT #7-13.

Book Review

Well people always see moon knight as a poor mans Batman but he is different to that sure they are both rich and have alter egos to fight crime that’s were it ends Moon knight has multiple personalities to deal with his past not just to achieve his crime fighting pursuits and those personalities are all to real leading to deep psychological problems. This TPB goes into more depth about what makes Moon knight tick, but is it as good as the Vol 1 the answer is yes and no. The book is set during Marvels Civil War Arc and this kicks up some interesting looks at how the other characters in the marvel universe see Moon knight (as spider-man says Mooney rhymes with Looney) as well as how Marc Spector sees them and the whole Civil war when he says to Captain America ‘Why don’t you and Stark get a room and leave the rest of us to it’ With Konshu in the background sniggering like a school kid. Neither side really wants him. This is all great stuff and for me real helps to steal your desire to keep reading to find more out about this complex character. The problem for me is the main story of the book and that is the big bad of the book his ex partner Midnight. For those of you they don’t know for a time Moon knight had a teenage sidekick called midnight who was the son of one of his major old school enemies of the same name (yes this screams of batman and robin and I am glad they junked it). I guess fewer of you will know s that his ex partner was turned into a cyborg by the secret empire and turned against moon knight and was believed killed, and this all happened years ago in amazing spiderman of all places. As you can guess I had no idea who this guy was and why he was a cyborg and why he was killing people okay this is explained in the book eventually, but I did not feel emotionally connected to the story and was much more interested in the other stuff rather than the action taking place in the book. I can see avid fans getting a kick out of the whole Midnight thing being wrapped up but those new to the book and me included just feel a bit should I care about this guy heh a bit more info please. But the book also contains a bit more with the amazing way thanks to the profiler and Konshu Marc (somehow to the bafflement of Tony stark) manages to get himself registered as a Boniface superhero. Though the art does Change in issue 13 and although it does suit Moon knight and harkens back to some of the original issues it takes some getting used too after Finch’s fine work. All in all the Sum is greater than its parts for this graphic novel all though the main plot did not grab me as much as the first trade it was still compelling reading for the craziest hero in town.

Best scene
For me It has to be when Moon Knights on off Girlfriend Marlene puts her keys through a muggers face, letting you know in that brutal moment that she could be as crazy as Marc Spector himself.
